About A Brow Lift

Wrinkles and frown lines often first appear between the brows and in the forehead area. A forehead lift, or “brow lift” is a surgical cosmetic procedure that softens the wrinkles and corrects drooping brows, providing a younger, friendlier appearance. It helps maintain the proper distance between the brow and eye lashes, so a person will not look angry or stern after surgery.

The endoscopic brow lift stabilizes the brows to their original, natural position. Additionally, wrinkles on the forehead and glabella (area between the eyebrows) are reduced. Asymmetry of the brows can be corrected at the time of surgery. A brow lift is often performed, or significantly improved, with other cosmetic procedures such as eyelid surgery or laser skin resurfacing.

The endoscopic (minimal and hidden scar) brow lift, is performed using a tiny fiber optic lens inserted through half-inch incisions placed behind the hairline. The lens is attached to a camera, which is connected to a monitor screen, allowing for visualization of the surgery. Additional half-inch incisions are made for the insertion of tiny scalpels, scissors, and retractors. Dr. Cole performs the procedure while viewing the monitor screen and manipulating the tiny instruments in a precise fashion. The brow position is slightly overcorrected at the time of surgery in order to account for relaxation of the tissues that occurs during the healing process. The end result is a natural, relaxed appearance that preserves the proper distance between the brow and eyelashes, allowing you to look rested and more youthful.

The initial recovery time for this procedure is 1-2 weeks. However, each patient will continue to heal over time at his or her own pace. Swelling, bruising, and some discomfort are part of the recovery process and can usually be alleviated with each patient’s individualized recovery plan.
