Youthful and Energized Look
Blepharoplasty is a type of surgery that changes the way the eyelids look. It is done to tighten tissues and get rid of extra skin or fat in the upper eyelids or lower eyelids. This is also known as an eyelid lift.
Most of the time, this surgery is done for cosmetic reasons. However, it's also an excellent way to help people see better if their upper eyelids are drooping and getting in the way. Dark circles under the eyes, crow's feet, and other lines on the face won't go away with an eyelid lift. Those issues are better addressed with other procedures, like laser resurfacing, a cheek lift, or a forehead lift.
Transform Your Eyes
Blepharoplasty is a versatile procedure designed to enhance the appearance and function of the eyes by addressing various concerns that can affect your looks and quality of life. Here’s what blepharoplasty can target:
Excess Skin on the Upper Eyelids
Sagging or drooping skin on the upper eyelids can create a tired appearance and, in some cases, even impair vision. Blepharoplasty removes this excess skin to restore a more youthful, alert look while improving your field of vision.
Under-Eye Bags and Puffiness
Puffiness or bags under the eyes are often caused by protruding fat deposits. Blepharoplasty can reduce these bulges, smoothing the under-eye area and reducing the appearance of tiredness or stress.
Fine Lines and Wrinkles
While not the primary focus, blepharoplasty can help to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes by tightening the skin, giving you a rejuvenated, smoother appearance.
Drooping Lower Eyelids
Lower eyelids that sag or droop can expose the white part of the eye below the iris, leading to an aged or hollow look. This procedure can tighten and reposition the lower eyelids, restoring a more natural and youthful appearance.
Hooded Eyelids
Hooding occurs when the skin of the upper eyelids folds over itself, often making the eyes appear smaller or more closed off. Blepharoplasty can correct this, giving the eyes a more open, refreshed look.
Asymmetry Between the Eyes
Whether due to genetics, aging, or previous surgeries, asymmetry between the eyes can be corrected through blepharoplasty, helping to achieve a more balanced and harmonious facial appearance.
By addressing these common concerns, blepharoplasty at Oculus Plastic Surgery can help you achieve a refreshed, youthful, and more balanced appearance.
See all life has to offer
Blepharoplasty can be performed on healthy patients with excess skin folds around the upper or lower eyelids. This excess or loose skin causes cosmetic problems and may even obstruct your field of vision.
Our procedure at Oculus Plastic Surgery can also address under-eye bags and puffiness that prevent men and women from feeling confident and enjoying life to the fullest. To find out if you are indeed an ideal candidate for eyelid surgery, schedule a consultation with Dr. Cole or a member of our team.
Youthful Eyes, Invisible Scars
At Oculus Plastic Surgery, Dr. Chip Cole has redefined the art of blepharoplasty with his advanced technique the InsideOut™ Approach. By combining state-of-the-art laser technology with the innovative InsideOut™ Approach, Dr. Cole achieves stunning results without leaving visible scars.
Laser Blepharoplasty
Using precision lasers, Dr. Cole delicately removes excess skin and reshapes the eyelids with unparalleled accuracy. The use of lasers not only minimizes trauma to the surrounding tissues but also promotes faster healing, resulting in a smoother, more refined appearance. This technique is particularly beneficial for those seeking a more natural look, free from the tell-tale signs of surgery.
The InsideOut™ Approach
Dr. Cole's InsideOut™ Approach is a groundbreaking method that allows for optimal access to facial tissues through discreet entry points inside the mouth, eyelids, or hairline. This approach enables Dr. Cole to perform intricate adjustments endoscopically, all while preserving the natural blood flow to the skin. By keeping the skin layer intact, this technique ensures a tension-free, natural appearance, with results that enhance your features without the harshness of traditional surgical methods.
Balancing Facial Features
Achieving facial harmony is about more than just addressing individual concerns—it’s about ensuring that all the features work together in perfect balance. The face is naturally divided into three distinct areas: the upper third (forehead and eyes), the middle third (nose and cheeks), and the lower third (mouth, chin, and jawline). For a youthful and balanced appearance, these areas must complement each other.
Dr. Cole’s expertise in facial anatomy allows him to tailor treatment plans that enhance this natural balance. Whether you’re addressing sagging eyelids, a drooping brow, or other aging signs, Dr. Cole considers the entire face to ensure all features are in harmony. This holistic approach to facial rejuvenation ensures that the results look natural and balanced, reflecting the art of subtle yet effective enhancement.

Ready for Brighter, Youthful Eyes?
Blepharoplasty is ideal for healthy adults experiencing sagging upper eyelids, under-eye bags, or excess skin that impacts their appearance or vision. Most candidates are over 30, though younger individuals with hereditary eyelid concerns may also benefit. It’s important that candidates are in good health and free from serious eye conditions like glaucoma or chronic dry eyes. During your consultation, Dr. Cole will assess your health and goals to ensure that blepharoplasty is a safe and effective option for you.
Smooth your upper or lower lids
During a blepharoplasty Atlanta plastic surgeon, Dr. Cole will make a hidden incision in the natural crease of the eyelid. Once the tissue is removed, we also address any excess fat at the same time. Sutures are used to gently close the incision. Typically, Dr. Cole does an InsideOut™ approach so there is absolutely no scar visible.
A lower eyelid lift requires an internal incision in the lower eyelid to remove or reposition the tissue. This is also known as a transconjunctival blepharoplasty. If, however, there is significant excess skin in addition to puffiness on the lower eyelid, a traditional incision just below the eyelashes (external blepharoplasty) can allow for the removal of excess skin. Our clinic in Atlanta works hard to make sure patients feel comfortable during the process and experience as little scarring as possible.
Long-Lasting Results
After a cosmetic eyelid blepharoplasty, you can expect your eyes to look brighter, tighter, and more open. The effects can be small but noticeable. You will look like yourself but appear more awake, rested, and youthful.
A New Vision of Beauty
In the recovery room, Atlanta blepharoplasty expert, Dr. Cole will put ointment in your eyes to keep them moist and place cold compresses over them. Right after surgery, the ointment may make your eyes sensitive to light and make it hard to see clearly.
You may feel like your eyes are dry or wet. The first night after surgery, putting cool compresses on your eyes and sleeping with your head raised will help with swelling. Atlanta eyelid lift provider, Dr. Cole will tell you how to take care of yourself in great detail.
Investing in Your Eyes
The cost of blepharoplasty varies based on the complexity of the procedure, the techniques used, and whether additional treatments are included. At Oculus Plastic Surgery, your fee will typically cover the surgeon’s fees, anesthetic, and facility costs, ensuring comprehensive care. Prices can differ by location, with metropolitan areas like Atlanta often being higher. During your consultation, Dr. Cole will provide a detailed cost breakdown tailored to your specific treatment plan. Blepharoplasty recovery is fairly short, usually about four to seven days, and there are things that we will review that you can do that will help keep that to a minimum.
The Blepharoplasty recovery and your presentation after blepharoplasty, usually after about two weeks, you can go to places, do things, and people don't even know that you've had surgery. One advantage of the eyelid region is, if you wear glasses, you can put a light tint on your glasses and give you a little assistance in hiding it while you're recovering. And also, if you're doing something outdoors, you can wear a hat and some sunglasses. But if you're gonna entertain, if you're gonna go to dinner, you're gonna look people eye to eye, I would allow two weeks minimum. Three weeks would be ideal, just in case you have a little more bruising or swelling than the average person.
When you have blepharoplasty surgery, you don't want to get overheated, overexerted, because when you do that, you increase your metabolism, you increase your blood pressure, you can cause some bleeding, and you cause more swelling. If you have bleeding underneath the tissues, I like to say blood is like whipped cream for bacteria. They love it. And you're a lot more susceptible to getting infection if you have a hematoma or you have bleeding. So let's do everything we can to prevent any bleeding, which is basically overexertion. That's why I like to say, don't pick up anything more than a bag of groceries.
Blepharoplasty recovery is absolutely painless as long as you keep the front part of the eye moist with ointment. When you have blepharoplasty surgery, it's similar to having a sprained ankle. Everything works. It's a little swollen. It's a little sore. The difference is when you close your eyes and you relax like sleeping, your eyelids might open up a little bit those first few days. We don't want the front surface of the eye called the cornea to get dry. So as long as you use ointment, keep your eyes lubricated, it is a painless procedure.
Blepharoplasty recovery is pretty straightforward and it's pretty minimal, usually about four to seven days. As long as you follow the medications and the instructions that we give you, you'll do absolutely fine. The only people that have a little more trouble are people that will overexert or they take aspirin and products like that that cause more bruising and swelling.
Blepharoplasty is a specific type of eyelid surgery, very similar to Kleenex is a specific type of facial tissue. Eyelid surgery comes in many forms, but the cosmetic version is blepharoplasty, where we remove a little skin and muscle to take some bulk to make the eyelid look more rested.
Blepharoplasty surgery is extremely safe in people that have done blepharoplasty many times. There are a lot of small vessels around the eye that need to be avoided, but anyone trained in doing blepharoplasty surgery knows how to do it very safely.
Blepharoplasty surgery is minimal to zero discomfort. We use topical anesthesia and we use small injections right under the skin that numb that area. There's several little sensory nerves and anyone experienced in blepharoplasty surgery knows which nerves to block so that it's essentially a painless procedure.
Blepharoplasty recovery is fairly minimal on the order of four to seven days. If someone has external lower lid blepharoplasty, it could take more like a week to two weeks because it has a tendency to bruise and swell more. So if you use a laser, then you're going to have less swelling, less bruising. If you use a scalpel, you're going to have a similar result down the road, but it is going to take an extra few days to heal because you'll have more bruising and swelling.
Blepharoplasty results are permanent if you stabilize the eyebrow. If you don't stabilize the eyebrow while you're doing a blepharoplasty, it usually lasts five to seven years. Think of it like a curtain rod and a curtain. Eventually that curtain rod will start to droop or the hammock will start to droop. As long as the support tissue, which is the brow, is secure, you never have to do another blepharoplasty.
